Deltarune Chapter 2 for mobile devices how can you play

Indie games are another breed. When it comes to independent titles, a certain X factor comes with the fact that a small group of developers is making something that can stand up to the giants of the industry. Indie games aren’t held back by the wills of companies who want to market their games to the biggest group of players possible, so niche games can fit right in and become popular. Indie games can also push the boundaries of certain mechanics and flip them on their heads, making for wholly unique experiences that players can remember fondly for years to come. Some of the biggest indie games, like, have beat-out titles like Call of Duty and Halo. However, Minecraft was bought out by Microsoft, turning it from an indie game into a triple-a-backed title. Certain games can reach the same amount of popularity and still be made independently.

Toby Fox and Deltarune

This is where Toby Fox comes in. Toby Fox is a game developer and musician who spent his time inside internet culture for those who aren’t familiar. He started out making a hack of the game earthbound and then soon found his way working on the webcomic Homestuck, where around 52 songs can be attributed to him. After these projects honed his skills, he made a game with a spin on the RPG formula. This game changed how players fought enemies, making turn-based RPG titles into action-packed bullet hell, mixed with the ability to spare enemies if enough kindness is shown to them. The game is called Undertale, and after a short Kickstarter, it was funded by the same people who had seen Toby grow from working on Rom Hacks & Webcomics.

Undertale’s popularity is nothing to scoff at, with the game becoming so popular that it’s been ported to consoles, as well as giving Toby the chance to hang out and play against Masahiro Sakurai, with one of the characters, Sans, being included in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate as a Mii costume. This would mark one of the few indie games that got representation in the game, aside from Cuphead and Shovel Knight.

After the success of Undertale, Toby then moved on to making another game. This new title expanded upon what Undertale did, changing its combat, adding a story that the player didn’t have a massive part in, and reusing the characters from the previous game. Aptly titled, Deltarune, an anagram of Undertale, the game isn’t a sequel to Undertale in any way. In a, he explains that the game isn’t taking place in the same world as Undertale and has nothing to do with the original game. “DELTARUNE’s world is a different one, with different characters that have lived different lives. A whole new story will happen…” The game was released on Halloween of 2018, and after three long years of waiting for the next chapter, it’s finally here.

Deltarune Chapter 2 Finally Out

On the 6th anniversary of Undertale, Toby Fox played a short snippet of the gameplay from Deltarune Chapter 2. Someone had asked about save carrying between games, seeing that Undertale was known for playing around with the files in the player’s computer. This made certain sections of the game where save files were tampered with by characters of the game feel like the world was more than just pixels on the screen. Players expected this same type of shenanigans from Toby Fox. However, the only thing that carries over is the items that the player picked up on the way through the game. The game continues after the events of Chapter 1, and it’s not required to play Undertale before checking out Deltarune. Those who swapped computers during the three-year gap between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are not required to replay Chapter 1.

That said, it’s expected that Chapter 2 will be as short as the first one, with the game not being more than a few hours of gameplay. With it releasing chapter by chapter, once it’s complete, the whole package will be sold on Steam, much like the original Undertale. In his Twitlonger about the game, Fox stated that he’s not selling the chapters individually, as that’s a business practice he doesn’t believe in. Regardless, Deltarune Chapter 2 is out now. For the fans of Undertale who’ve been waiting for more content from Fox, they’re not going to have to wait long.
